The Smokies are an angler’s paradise. Discover the art of fly-fishing through our Orvis-endorsed experiences. Whether you’re making your first cast or refining years of experience, our fly-fishing program invites you to slow down, immerse yourself in nature, and enjoy the unmatched beauty of Western North Carolina’s waters.
Experience the fundamentals of fly-fishing during this 90-minute casting clinic at The Pond. Learn proper casting techniques, discover how flies imitate natural food sources, and gain insight into the fish that call the pond home. Guests will have the opportunity to practice their skills on the water, catch fish, and learn essential techniques for landing and handling them responsibly.

$30 per person
Our guide will drive you off-property (30 minutes each way) to enjoy exclusive access to a private mountain stream during this half-day fly-fishing adventure. With the river largely to yourself, you’ll learn the fundamentals of casting, reading water, selecting flies, wading safely, and landing fish under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Guests will gain hands-on experience while practicing responsible catch-and-release techniques.
Offered daily from 7 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 5 p.m.

Enjoy a full day of fly-fishing on an exclusive stretch of private mountain water during this guided off-property excursion. The extended format allows time to explore multiple sections of the river, adapt to changing conditions, and gain a deeper understanding of the sport while enjoying one-on-one instruction and exceptional scenery.

Yes, you are required to obtain a NC Fishing License for the half-day and full-day excursions. You can find the information you need here.
Guests of any age are welcome to join our Introduction to Fly Casting. To participate in a half-day or full-day excursion, guests must be at least 10 years old. Children ages 10–13 must be accompanied by an adult, while guests 14 and older may participate independently.
