For those who love learning about the area they are in, this is a wonderful introduction to understanding the region and mountain culture. All events can be booked online by clicking the links below and selecting your date. Additional fees apply. As our lodging guest, all musical performances are complimentary.

 

Local Legends of Maggie Valley

Local Historian, Author and Storyteller Bob Plott shares his unique knowledge of our own local legends. He is  a 2016 winner of the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, and has written six award winning books—all published by the History Press – celebrating the history of the Plott Hound breed and southern mountain culture, along with writing scores of magazine articles.

Stargazing with the Asheville Astronomy Club

Join us at sunset as we welcome Asheville Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing – Guests get to look through the telescopes and check out the universe from the Hayloft event barn. Includes a hot cocoa or hot cider and Chef Angie’s moon pie!

The History of Haywood County

Steven Reinhold was made and raised in Maggie Valley and has a profound love for the pastoral surroundings and people of The Cataloochee Ranch. He’s as Appalachian as it gets and is excited to share his stories and our history with y’all! Come on up and listen to him tell it on the mountain during our Tales From The Ranch storytelling series.
